Chittagong-- – The main index of Chittagong Stock Exchange closed lower yesterday (Sunday) as transactions decreased remarkably.

The CSE All Share Price Index dropped by 1.56 points or 0.12 percent to close at 1345.85 points from 1347.40 points on Saturday.

The CSE Selective Index also shed 3.10 points or 0.23 per cent to close at 1349.81 points from Saturday’s 1352.91 points.

Of the 53 listed securities traded yesterday, 22 gained, 22 declined and nine remained unchanged.

Some 958,892 shares and debentures valued at Tk 2.77 crore were transacted against 1,218,564 shares worth Tk 4.04 crore on the previous trading day.

Sinobangla (455,500), Paragon Leather (125,550), Quasem Dry Cells (64,000), Beximco Pharma (55,000) and Rangpur Foundry (47,500) were among the volume leaders.

Market capitalisation stood at Tk 55.35 billion from Tk 55.40 billion on Sunday.
